So today was a pretty amazing day in North East Thailand. My guide and I left Chiang Rai early having to travel quite a distance to get to a city up near the border of Laos called #Nan. On the way we stopped in a very small village and had a traditional meal from the area, I ate things we normally throw away in my country, I couldn’t believe it.
So the story behind this photo is rather interesting this is the largest temple in Nan, when I took my shoes off to go in a police officer came running up to me speaking to me in Thai, I had no idea what was going on, I actually thought I was in major trouble, it turns out that they very rarely see westerners in this part of Thailand and in fact he had never met anyone from Australia, so through my guide as an interpreter he wanted to have his photo tKen with me and started writing down my name and where I was in his notebook. I then turned around and everyone was taking photos of me, I am in Asia don’t forget everyone has a camera or a phone. So for the very first time in my life I really felt like I was totally different to everyone else, but in a good way, kids were coming up to me saying hello and when I replied to them in Thai they would start laughing, I love this place everyone in #Thailand has made me feel so welcome.
